It's a historical novel as the story takes you up and down Castro Street and you can stop at one of the most historical businesses which continues to thrive today - Cliff's Department store.

Take in a movie at The Castro Theatre, which was a hubbub for the neighborhood kids who clamored to it, waiting in long lines every Saturday.

• I’ve heard you talk about spirits and ghosts. Is there a difference? To me there is a difference. Although a ghost is the spirit or energy of a person, it has not gone onto a place of peaceful rest. The entity is suspended in a limbo state––not moving onto a heaven, or another dimension or living a physical life on Earth. Long after it has left the physical body it lingers on Earth reliving the same painful, misery and/or death scene over and over again. With that said about the belief of stuck ghosts, I’ll add a friendly encounter of one who had no plans to move on. (con't in book).

Partly to blame for her young son's death and abandoned by her husband, Liz Mackay leaves Scotland in disgrace, hoping for a second chance at love and life. Arriving in San Francisco during the Summer of Love, she soon joins a commune. Her new family is a curious mix: Black Panthers trying to change the world, a Vietnam vet seeking inner peace, a flamboyant hairdresser ready for fame and love, a flower child and her drug dealer boyfriend who changes girlfriends often. At first, Liz is happy to have found a welcoming home, but as her new roommates pry into her mysterious past Liz's search for a "jolly good time" brings more grief and a worsening drug addiction. Embroiled in a plot to bring down the Black Panthers, she looks for a way to redeem herself for her part in her son's death. Sharing her fears, she is told, "Keep your mouth shut." Can she save her friends or will she just watch her commune family break apart?
