REMEMBERING TRAVELING "SKYE"

REMEMBER TRAVELING?

A TIME WE FREELY MOVED AROUND?

On a Face Book post a woman displayed my novel, The Skye in June.

The woman in pink holding up a copy of my first novel, The Skye in June, had hosted a book party for me and since a trip to Scotland was already planned decided she'd read the story there.

Her first stop was in Glasgow where the story begins for the MacDonald family (see excerpt below).

The last time I visited Scotland was 14 years ago with my husband who'd not been there beforehand.

The Unexpected Magic of Travel: One never knows what or who will be experienced.

Funny story...as we walked the main thorough way named Dumbarton Road of a district called Partick where I lived as a child before emigrating to San Francisco, we heard "JUNE! JUNE!" shouted out behind us.

Confused to who'd know we'd be there?

Turing around a cousin of mine raced toward us. She no longer lives in Glasgow bur had heard we were in own, although not any particular day nor time. She followed a "feeling" that if she went that day, at that time she'd meet me.

Is she "fey" like me? Can she see and know what others cannot? "Skye" is about a young girl who is fey as a gypsy character reveals.

"Skye" is a historical story set mostly in San Francisco, California but begins in Glasgow. It's about a family who emigrates after a family tragedy in the 1950s and how they change over time. The a poignant story often hilarious with tactics the sisters take to deter their father control especially as the early days of the 1960s threatened to implode them.

A review: Not since author Amy Tan's early writings has a woman's voice so strongly resonated from one of San Francisco's most famous neighborhoods. - Jim Toland,  author, Fire and Fog and In and Out of Ireland

Glasgow, Scotland
May 31, 1950

The rain drizzling down the windows of the taxi shrouded the riders inside. Cathy MacDonald, the sole passenger, leaned her head against the misted window. She was bound for St. Andrew's Infirmary to deliver yet another wean.
Her fingers dug into her seat as she readjusted her bulky body. No position seemed to bring relief to her discomfort. She let her head fall forward onto the back of the driver's seat.
“Does he have to hit every bloody stone in the road?” she muttered under her breath as the taxi bumped along.
“Don't you worry, Missus. I'll get you there in time. “The rough sandpaper voice of the taxi driver startled her, and she wondered if he had heard her question. “I know all about how fast those weans want out. Got six bairns of my own,” he said laughing loudly.
Cathy didn’t dare tell him that her labor pains were coming very close together and that this might be the first time that a baby would be born in his taxi.
“Your man's Jimmy MacDonald, right?” he inquired.
His talking only irritated her, but not wanting to appear unfriendly she tried to focus on what he had asked. Her response came as a muffled sound that could have been an answer or a retreat from the question. She caught him peeking a glance at her in the rearview mirror. She braced herself for the next question, knowing what it would be.
“You Mr. B's daughter?” The driver, along with so many others in Glasgow, deeply respected Willie Buchanan, or Mr. B, as he had been known for as far back as anyone could remember. Mr. B had earned a reputation for being a fair man. Years ago he had rallied a group of well-off citizens to provide funds to support youth soccer teams for the town's underprivileged children. He had insisted that the money be shared equally between Catholic and Protestant teams-–an unusual act, since prejudice between the two religious groups was still very intense in Scotland. Although some people protested, most citizens supported his efforts.
The taxi swerved sharply to avoid a pile of building rubble. Cathy moaned in protest, which made the driver wish her husband was there to help with the situation.
“Where's Jimmy?” he asked.
“Working,” she replied, her voice barely a whisper.
She fell away from the driver's seat and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath in and then blew out sharply as jolting cramps came one after another. If Jimmy hadn't been so worried about getting to his second job, he could've been with me. He'd tell the driver to slow down, Cathy thought. She didn't want this ride to be over too quickly. She wasn't ready to walk up the four broad stone steps to St. Andrew's Infirmary to lie on a bed under a sheet, waiting. Not wanting to sound demanding, she stopped short of asking the driver to slow down. Instead she moved her hands over her belly and whispered hoarsely, “Wait, wee one. Just a bit longer.”

SPIRITS GOING TO HOLLYWOOD

WHAT HAS YOU SAYING YAY!!

SHARING FUN NEWS WITH YOU

Yesterday I learned a well seasoned and talented actress - now a days called actor - agreed to the role of me in a film about one of my murder cases as seen in my book, How to Talk With Spirits: Seances, Mediums, Ghost Hunts.

The project - the screenplay has been in the works for about a year with Quentin Lee  filmmaker, screenwriter and director who has done several films.

I met Quentin in San Francisco when mutual friend filmmaker and cameraman, Matt Abaya for The Haunted Bay Paranormal Investigations  (as seen on Amazon Prime Time and YouTube videos) introduced us.

Quentin's family home was haunted, he said, and asked me to investigate. Indeed it was. We met a few of his relatives with unresolved life issues. The space was cleared by me. And the investigation was filmed to be seen later on Quentin's website.

After reading my book Quentin's interest in the paranormal grew and that's when he contacted me
with an offer to create a film.

Before he contacted the actress he emailed her name thinking she'd be good to play me. Without hesitation I said, "Yes! She very much is me."

He contacted her agent and after reading the script, Veronica Cartwright, was most interested in the story and my work, agreed.

So, it looks like we're going to Hollywood. Ha ha - well, that's my fun story for the day.
What about you? What made you laugh and feel - YAY!!

Who'd play you in a movie?

PRIME TIME FOR THE HAUNTED BAY

The Haunted Bay can now we seen on

Amazon Prime Time

with new historical facts added to support my ghost investigations

My role as a medium with The Haunted Bay Paranormal Investigations began as a favor and also a bit of curiosity.

In 2014 I retired from private practice after over forty years as a psychic reading and medium when I got a call from Ying Liu, a young woman I had read for a few years previous.

Ying asked if I'd visit the infamous unsolved Zodiac murder sites to "feel" if the victims' spirits lingered. I said no, not wanting to be a part of that tragedy.

Murder had already been part of my psychic experiences having worked with law enforcement on a few murder cases. To those curious let me tell you it's no fun. It's a sad ugly to be part of the terror and pain of another being murdered.

A few weeks later Ying contacted me with another ghost hunt in the infamous Condor Club on Broadway, San Francisco.

Now that sounded an interestingly fun time.

I grew up in San Francisco but never went into the Condor. Nice girls just didn't go into a strip joint, no what I mean? Here was my chance!

That investigation - a lot of ghost activity is there -  was the beginning of ghost hunting with Ying.

It's been quite a trip and at times frightening. Even for me a seasoned medium.

Before the investigation I ask not to be told where we're going. I always get information on the site before we arrive. Also, I don't want any information about the place. It's kind a game with myself.
Let's see what I pick up.

Let me move through the ghostly fog and slide into other dimensions. Let me tell the history. The happenings. The spirits in the space.

After the investigation Ying and at times, I research - how correct were my findings?

Getting historical data to back up every once living person and events is not easy. But, amazingly much of what I did encounter and pick up has been very accurate.

Check out our investigations on Prime Time - The Haunted Bay. Also, seen on YouTube.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS?

UPDATE NEWS:

ON AMAZON'S PRIME TIME SERIES GHOST ENCOUNTERS

DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS?

Do you believe in ghosts? was a question posed to The Haunted Bay's producer Ying Liu by filmmaker and producer, Quentin Lee in a candid interview about Ying's belief or not in the supernatural.

She started out saying, yes, but...So what changed her mind?

At one point she was on the opposite side of the camera with her crew - all but one were sitting on the fence about the whole thing.

When I'd say, oh! did you see that bloody mess of a body there? They'd shrug with no comment.

We investigated some great spooky places that were reported to be haunted and I confirmed that pause found much more activity.

Those who've read previous blogs know I'm one of the (main) mediums with the historical series The Haunted Bay Paranormal Investigations with June Ahern as seen on YouTube.

How did Ying get so involved with this that it has reached thousands?

A series with me will now be seen on Amazon's Prime Time starting Monday, May 11th, 2020. The time hasn't been sent to me yet. I'll let you know if you don't find it this upcoming Monday.

Ying brought me into her project with my first ghost encounters at the infamous Condor Club where Carol Doda revealed it all - a first in USA's history. Her enhanced breast was a hit with guests of the club. Like yeah.

A bizarre death took place there too. That investigation led to many more.

Seeing and hearing what I did, I think you'll believe in ghosts.

All of this is in my book, "How to Talk With Spirits: Seances, Mediums, Ghost Hunts" where I also answer numerous questions posed me by the curious living and tell of the murder cases I worked on with the police.
